The Forests of Povlen

The perfection of this mountain beauty is complemented by almost uninterrupted dense deciduous forests with over 20 species of forest trees. The most common are beech, hazel, black and white ash, black hornbeam, maple, birch, then spruce, black pine ... Beech and mountain maple are indigenous species of this area.

Around Dijavica towards the mountain of Jablanik, there are dense forests of relatively young conifers (fir and spruce), which are probably planted. Instead of spruce, old autochthonous tree species have been planted in recent years, which are re-conquering the area of Povlen. Conifers will remain in a smaller number, more due to the visual effect. In the late 1970s, a solid macadam road of great importance for forest exploitation was cut through this forest complex.
