The Fossil remnants on Burma
Many traces from this turbulent period have remained preserved, such as salt deposits in Tuzla (in Bosnia and Herzegovina) and rocks with fossils of organisms that lived in the Tethys Ocean some 100 million years ago. In addition to snails in this and nearby localities, there is an abundance of oysters, orbitolinas ... Burma, as a significant fossil-bearing locality, is included in the Inventory of Geoheritage of Serbia and it is under protection. The locals named this hill after the ring fossils of Nerineas, which resemble wedding rings (burma in Serbian), so even today they are called Burma, Burmić, Burmićak
Fosilni ostaci na Burmi
Iz ovog burnog perioda sačuvani su mnogi tragovi, kao što su naslage soli u Tuzli i stene sa fosilima organizama koji su živeli u okeanu Tetis pre oko 100 miliona godina. Pored puževa na ovom i obližnjim lokalitetima nalazi se obilje ostrea, orbitolina... Burma je kao značajni fosilonosni lokalitet uvrštena u Inventar geonasleđa Srbije i zakonom zaštićena. Brdo su meštani Povlena nazvali po prstenastim fosilima Nerineama, koje podsećaju na burme, pa ih i danas zovu burma, burmić, burmićak..
